Meet Dr. Dawn Anderson
With more than 36 years of experience in mathematics education, I’ve dedicated my career to helping students build confidence, strengthen critical thinking skills and discover that success in math is within their reach.
I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia. I am certified in Middle and Secondary Mathematics Education in both California and Virginia, as well as in Gifted Education in Virginia. Throughout my career, I’ve taught students from middle school through graduate school and served as faculty aboard the internationally recognized Semester at Sea program, combining my passion for education with a love of travel and lifelong learning.
I believe every student can succeed when learning is personalized. Using an individualized, positive psychology approach, I help students develop conceptual understanding, build confidence and achieve meaningful academic growth. I tutor middle and high school mathematics courses, including AP Calculus AB, and prepare students for the ACT, SAT and GRE. I also provide academic coaching to strengthen organizational and study skills, time management and executive functioning.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy visiting botanical gardens, from around the world to right here at Lotusland in Montecito. My love of horticulture gives me a deep appreciation for the elegant patterns, symmetry and growth found throughout nature. Mathematics is more than numbers. It is a way of understanding the beauty, order and connections that shape the world.
